Hyundai Accent LPG version released

As part of its initiative to promote eco-friendly and non-polluting means of transport, Hyundai Motor India has launched its LPG variant of its entry-level sedan - Accent. The LPG, bi-fuel variant will be priced at Rs. 533,900 which is Rs 34,900 more than the existing petrol model and it is fitted with an engine immobilizer as a standard fitment for added security.

Bajaj Auto Q4 FY 2008-09 net profit down by 49.79 per cent at Rs. 69 crore

Bajaj Auto Limited (BAL) reported a 49.79 per cent decline in its consolidated net profit at Rs. 69.14 crore for the financial year 2008-09, vis-a-vis Rs. 137.71 crore in the corresponding quarter last year, The board has declared a dividend of 220 per cent at the rate of Rs 22 a share for the financial year ended March 31, 2009. The consolidated total income also declined by 8.61 per cent to Rs. 1,883.27 crore in quarter under review, from Rs 2,060.61 crore in FY 2007-08.

Volvo S60 Concept awarded 'Most Beautiful Concept Car' by Auto Bild

Around 200,000 Auto Bild readers from 27 countries have selected the most beautiful vehicles for 2009 in five categories, with the Volvo S60 Concept winning over 28 renowned competitors in the category of Concept Cars. The voting for the Auto Bild Design Award was expanded for the first time to Europe-wide scope this year. Votes were submitted by fax, telephone and Internet.

Govt prepares draft note for de-regulation of petrol and diesel prices

There is a possibility that the new government at the centre in New Delhi may lift controls on automotive fuels like petrol and diesel prices, in spite of maintaining its stance on regulating kerosene and cooking gas prices. There are media reports that the petroleum ministry has prepared a draft cabinet note on freeing petrol and diesel prices from the government control, after which they will be linked to international movements.

Maruti Suzuki looks for about 15 per cent sales from Indian hinterland

On the sidelines of launching its new car Ritz, Maruti Suzuki has recently said that it is eyeing to achieve 12-15 per cent of its total sales from the rural areas across the country in FY 2009-10, vis-à-vis per cent in the last fiscal. The company has also indicated that it has seen over 100 per cent growth in the rural market's share in total sales during last fiscal.
