Chrysler brand could be launched in India by Fiat

Fiat which has recently entered into a strategic alliance with Chrysler, may launch the American auto giant’s models in the market. The company, however, refused to provide any details regarding this. When asked whether the company would bring Chrysler brands to India, Fiat Group Chief Operating Officer (International Operations) Filverio Bonfiglioli said, "why not..." he said on the sidelines launching its superhatch Grande Punto in both petrol and diesel variants in the Indian market

GM to pull curtains on Opel brand in India

With its fortunes steady in India,GM India is taking a U-turn by putting a lid on its German brand Opel’s operations in India now. Instead, it will be stepping up its Chevrolet’s brand communication in order to spruce up its image in India. It may be recalled that in 1994, General Motors India was formed as a joint venture, where 50 per cent was owned by Hindustan Motors and 50 per cent by General Motors to produce and sell Opel branded vehicles. GM bought out the Hindustan Motors interest in 1999 and continued to produce Opel cars at the Halol facility until 2003, when it started production of Chevrolet vehicles at that location.

Inergy to build new fuel systems plant in India

Solvay, a Belgian chemical and pharmaceutical company, has recently announced that its affiliate Inergy Automotive Systems, world leader in fuel systems for the automotive industry, is building a new fuel systems plant in the Beijing region, China, and one in the Chennai region, India. The Beijing factory will serve a production plant operated by Hyundai as from July 2010 and the Chennai factory will supply a car plant in the Bangalore region operated by Toyota.

Amtek Auto denies plans to acquire US-based Visteon

Amtek Auto, on 19th June, 2009, has clarified that American auto component giant Visteon`s investment bankers have not approached the company for the sale of its plants and businesses.The announcement was made with reference to a news item appearing in The Economic Times titled 'Ford Parts Supplier looks for India Buyer' which stated that American auto component giant Visteon`s investment bankers have approached Delhi based auto parts major Amtek Auto for the sale of its plants and businesses.

Force India to continue with 2010 season while eight majors threaten a divorce

According to the latest reports, nearly eight manufacturers (Ferrari, McLaren, BMW, Renault, Red Bull, Toro Rosso, Toyota and BrawnGP) have decided to form a separate setup by breaking away from the present organization. It has been learnt the eight teams have disagreed with the way the FIA has decided in what direction the Formula One should go, and thus feeling the need to create a own championship. The reason cited by the teams for this drastic move is Max Mosley's (Formula one motor racing chief) plan to introduce a voluntary £40 million budget cap in order to make it easier for new teams to enter & smaller ones like Force India and Wlliams to continue.

Honda premium compact car to have global debut in India by 2011-12

Taking a cue from its global peers like Suzuki Motor Corporation and Hyundai Motor Company, which have earmarked India as its launch pad for its premium compact cars like A-star (badged as Suzuki Alto in Europe) and i10 respectively, Honda Motor Company is also doing the same for its car in the same segment by 2011-12. GM likely to resuscitate itself before schedule

According to a leading British financial daily - The Financial Times, General Motors is expected to resuscitate itself from bankruptcy by the middle of July, which is one month ahead of schedule.
The launch of new GM, which will have substantially less debt and operating cost, is expected to be completed earlier and is aimed at creating a company that is stronger, leaner and ready to move forward.
