Jaguar Rocketsports Racing unveils ALMS GT2 Program


Rocketsports Racing, Inc. (RSR) establishes a new entity, formed to build and race Jaguar XKR's in the ALMS GT2 category and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Rocketsports Racing officially announced a GT2 program for the American Le Mans Series that will see the East Lansing, Michigan-based team reunite with the Jaguar brand by entering a Jaguar XKR for a partial season in 2009 with a full-season championship effort in 2010.

Making lighter cars by Hyundai, Maruti and Honda gaining currency

Following the footstep of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, its arch-rival, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) is drawing up plans to rolling out lighter cars, by reducing the weight of each component in the near future, in a bid to cut down costs and improve the car's fuel efficiency and performance. In 2008, its shop-floor and R&D staff already contributed in reducing the weight of its cars by as up to 380 grams.

CEAT launches 1st Wheel Management Centre in India at Sankagiri in Tamil Nadu

As part of its aggressive growth plans, Indian tyre major, CEAT Ltd. has launched its first Wheel Management Centre in Sankagiri for truck and bus radial tyres. Sankagiri has the potential of 7,000 new tyres per month of which 30 per cent are of radial tyres.With this launch, CEAT has further enhanced its reach to the masses in Tamil Nadu and the company is strongly looking forward to launch 20 stores in India by 2010. CEAT Wheel Management Centre will be a one stop shop for truckers for buying new tyres and retreading. CEAT has also launched exclusive centers at trucking hubs of the country for trucks.

Bajaj-KTM to unveil streetbikes at 2010 AutoExpo in New Delhi

According to the latest buzz, Bajaj-KTM will jointly be rolling out streetbikes from Chakan in Maharashtra by 2010-11. Media reports claim that the Indo-Austrian motorcycle alliance is gearing up to unveil the streetbikes at the biennial Auto Expo in at New Delhi in India, during January 2010.

Ratan Tata's caustic remarks on JLR pulls down share price by 4.28 per cent

According to reports in the media, Tata Motors’ shares went down by 4.28 per cent to Rs. 268.40 on BSE on 11th May, 2009, in the wake of chairman Ratan Tata telling The Sunday Times that the £1.15 Jaguar Land Rover was acquired when the boom was at its peak. Currently, it is in the process of raising nearly US$1.5 billion from overseas markets, and US$ 500 million may be raised by stake sale in various companies and raising funds from local banks.

SKF India begins construction of Haridwar project to meet growing 2-wheeler market needs

SKF India, the leading technology and solutions provider of bearings, seals and related products, today announced the beginning of work for the new manufacturing site in Haridwar, Uttarakhand.
