Honda Europe showcases its green initiatives at 2009 Green Week Conference in Brussels

Honda Motor Europe, which attended the 2009 Green Week Conference last week, where it exhibited the FCX Clarity's Fuel Cell Stack, share its vision for a hydrogen society and promote the company's commitment to addressing environmental issues. Organised by the Directorate-General Environment of the European Commission, it is the largest annual conference on European environment policy.

Volkswagen declared Advertiser of the Year in Cannes Festival

At the 56th International Advertising Festival 'Cannes Lions 2009', Europe’s largest automaker was presented with its first Lion in the 'Advertiser of the year' discipline – thus receiving the highest accolade in the advertising industry. Volkswagen has been presented with around 150 'advertising Oscars' in Cannes since 1961.

Ravi Kirpalani becomes automotive director and COO of Castrol India following Kshatriya's new role

Following the appointment of Naveen Kshatriya as regional vice-president, Asia & Pacific, BP Castrol Lubricants, he has stepped down as MD & CEO of Castrol India Limited. He will however, continue on the Board of Directors of the company as non-executive vice-chairman. He also continues to be on the Global leadership team for BP lubricants.

Michigan plants in the US to build GM's future small car

General Motors has announced that it has selected its assembly plant in Orion Township, Michigan and stamping facility in Pontiac, Michigan to build its future small car, which will add to the automaker’s growing portfolio of U.S.- built, highly fuel-efficient cars, including the Chevrolet Cruze and Volt. Today’s announcement will restore approximately 1,400 jobs in total -- 1,200 at Orion Assembly and 200 at Pontiac Metal Center, Building # 14.

SBI offers auto loans at 8 per cent for 1st yr, 10 per cent for next two years

A move that can act as a shot in the arm for the Indian automobile industry, the State Bank of India (SBI), India's largest bank, on 27th June, 2009, has announced a special interest rate scheme for auto loans, dropping interest rate for car loans to 8 per cent for the first year and 10 per cent for the next two years. However, for the remaining period, the interest rate would be about 25 to 75 basis points below the PLR of bank
