Toyota Kirloskar Motor has launched its globally acclaimed leader in the premium SUV segment - the 8th generation Toyota Land Cruiser in India. Fiat rolls out its 10 millionth car in Brazil

Fiat is celebrating the ten millionth car produced in the plant of Betim since its foundation in Brazil and the return to the leadership on the Brazilian market in the month of May, 2009. It has been announced by the Anfavea (association of Brazilian carmaker) that Fiat conquered again the top position among the most sold car brands in Brazil. The previous two months Fiat has been toped by Volkswagen. The make from Turin has sold 60,628 cars in May 2009, which represent 25.5 per cent of the total sales. VW has sold 55.000, GM 47,000. Also in the first five months Fiat tops the other makes with 24.6 per cent of the total sales, followed by VW with 23.5 per cent.

On a cold and windy day, on one of the most beautifully situated race tracks in the world, the Autopolis Circuit, Team Red Rooster Racing made history for India, by being the first Indian team to race motorcycles in Japan. It was the 2nd round of the Asian GP.
With careful planning and sleepless nights, the RRR team, under Team Director Amit Sandill and Technical Director Andrew Morrice were able to produce world-class pits, transport boxes for the bikes, spares and pit paraphernalia, ready the machines and be at the circuit as per schedule. No mean task this, given the short time and logistics between the 1st Malaysian Round and Japan.

SIAM establishes 2,200 pollution check camps in 256 cities pan-India

In its attempt to further its vision of moving towards environment friendly alternative fuels, Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has set up 2,200 PUC (Pollution under Control) check-up camps in 256 cities across the length and breadth of the country.
The initiative is in partnership with Society for Automotive Fitness & Environment (SAFE), with an objective to check more than 50,000 vehicles this year, and will also organize regular PUC & Inspection Certification camps for in-use vehicles in various parts of the country. The camps will also educate and enlighten vehicle owners aware about the importance of safe vehicles and clean environment.

Supreme Court allows TVS to roll out Flame, but not market it

Supreme Court of India has given a green signal to TVS Motor Company to manufacture TVS Flame, a 125-cc bike sporting twin-spark plugs, for which Bajaj Auto claims that it holds the patent rights for its technology. However, the permission comes with a rider, as the apex court of India has categorically forbidden the Chennai-based company to sell the aforesaid bike in any market. The order came on the back of a special leave petition filed by Bajaj Auto on June 2, 2009, in the Supreme Court against a Madras High Court division bench order restraining it from interfering with TVS Motors manufacture and marketing of `Flame` motorbike.

Indraprastha Gas to invest Rs. 800 crore to ramp up its gas stations in NCR

Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL), the leading automotive and domestic gas retailer, has firmed up its plans to invest Rs. 800 crore to ramp up its gas stations from 171 currently to around 240 in the national Capital Region (NCR) by October 2010, just before the commencement of the commonwealth games.IGL has already been allotted land for 18 outlets and more are in the process of being allotted. Furthermore, the state-owned company will also be pumping in another Rs. 800 crore towards expansion of the PNG network in Delhi and the national capital regions of Noida and Greater Noida. The PNG network, which currently covers 140,000 households in Delhi and the NCR, will see another 50,000 connections in the current fiscal.
