Narain Karthikeyan finishes 6th at 2009 Le mans race

Narain Karthikeyan, the Indian A1GP driver, on May 11, 2009, became the first Indian to participate and score points in the 2009 Le Mans 24-hour classic race by finishing sixth for the Kolles Audi Team. The sixth place finish earned Team Kolles three points. The race was held at the Spa-Francorchamps Circuit in Belgium was the venue of the second round of the 2009 Le Mans Series (LMS), where Karthikeyan started his summer season of racing this year. The 31-year-old Narain shared driving duties with two other drivers, Briton Andrew Meyrick & Dutchman Charles Zwolsman in the 1,000 km Endurance race. The Chennai racer drove during qualifying match and made the grid at ninth, ahead of the team’s second car driven by Christian Albers. He was one of the 3 drivers who drove the turbo-diesel powered, 5.5 litre V12, Audi R10 TDi LMP1 sportscar.
