Allotment letters of Nano to begin this week
Finally, there is some movement in the Nano story in India. A leading business daily, The Economic Times, has published a report that says that Tata Motors is all set to begin dispatching Nano allotment letters this week to its one lakh customers, with nearly 70 per cent of them expected to be for small town residents. It is widely believed that Indiia’s largest vehiclemaker commence delivery by early July and complete the process by the last quarter of this fiscal. According to the press release issued by Tata Motors earlier, its Nano model has drawn over 2.03 lakh fully paid bookings amounting to nearly Rs. 2,500 crore, in an encouraging response to the car launched on 23rd March, 2009.

By Invitation : Driving the Tata Nano was splendid by Shrawan Raja
What would it be like to drive the world's cheapest car? Would it give me a real high or would it feel slow and unstable like the world’s cheapest hard disk? Would it feel flimsy and uncomfortable like a cheap Chinese mobile phone my friend brought last week? Hoping to be disappointed, I fixed an appointment with a Tata dealership in my city in Chennai to assess the world’s cheapest car. The turn of events proved quite the opposite. Come, let’s explore this little wonder.I strolled towards the grey Nano parked at a distance in the shade of a tree, it began getting bigger. Get this - the Nano isn't a ‘small car' the way we all conceive it. Fine, it is shorter than the Maruti800 but due to its height and large glass area, it looks much bigger and well-built. From certain angles you could even call it the mini- Indica. Tata’s smallest creation is sure to attract eyeballs as we later found out during our drive.
