Akio Toyoda takes over as new prez of Toyota Motor Corporation

Toyota Motor Corp, in its annual general meeting, has confirmed to its shareholders that Akio Toyoda (the grandson of founder Kiichiro Toyoda) has been appointed as its new president. The 53-year old Toyoda joined Toyota in 1984, becoming a board member in 2000 and was made an executive vice president in 2005, taking charge of Japanese sales and overseas operations.
